How to make your own hair growth oil
Making hair growth oil is my form of self-love.
I’ve spent most of my life growing my hair, chopping it, regrowing it, chopping it again, and immediately regretting it. This is the oil I make every single time I’m standing in the mirror thinking, oh no.
First, the bottle.
You need a dark glass bottle, 50 milliliters is a good size. Make sure it’s a dark bottle OR you have to keep the bottle someplace dark. Doing so keeps the oils from going rancid. Don’t skip this part!
The Lineup:
Castor oil = the fertilizer
Jojoba oil = the water
Pumpkin seed oil = the pest control
Rosemary essential oil = the growth lamp
Peppermint essential oil = the other growth lamp
Once you get these oils, you can make soooo many batches.
Think of your hair follicles like plants. Everything in this bottle has a job based on that metaphor, and once you understand it, you’ll never forget it.
Start with castor oil. Fill the bottle about a quarter of the way. Make sure it’s cold-pressed, organic, and just castor oil. Nothing else on the label.
Castor oil is your fertilizer. It kills bad bacteria, reduces inflammation, and creates a healthy scalp environment where follicles can actually thrive.
Then fill the rest, past halfway, with jojoba oil. Jojoba is your water. Your hair just drinks it up. It moisturizes the scalp deeply, and a moisturized, happy scalp means faster, healthier growth.
Now add two droppers of pumpkin seed oil. This is your pest control, and here’s why: there’s a hormone called DHT that signals your body to shrink hair follicles and slow growth down. DHT is basically the main villain of hair loss. Pumpkin seed oil blocks it.
One dropper of rosemary essential oil. One dropper of peppermint. Both are growth lamps, they stimulate circulation in the scalp and wake follicles up. And rosemary isn’t just a vibe. It’s been clinically shown to work just as effectively as minoxidil for hair growth.
Then you just shake it! That's it.
Now you apply it to your scalp, and make sure you really massage that scalp. The massage is the other piece of the puzzle for hair growth. Moving your scalp physically for 5 minutes will do WONDERS!
Now go and grow your hair, booboo!
